Two guests will enjoy the remarkable Tauck River Cruise experience for seven nights and eight days.
Venture off the beaten path along the inland waterways of Belgium and the Netherlands, where daily life unfolds in bicycle rides and guided visits in Dutch villages, culinary tastings in Belgium and Antwerp, a canal boat ride in Amsterdam and a castle dinner on a private island for Tauck guests only.
Embark on your cruise from Brussels and enjoy Day 2 immersed in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture of the Guild Houses lining Grand-Place. Day 3 takes you to Belgium’s largest port city, Antwerp, a longtime magnet for art lovers and diamond traders. Visit the Royal Museum of Fine Arts to see art from the 14th through 20th centuries, with an impressive hall dedicated to the art of Antwerp’s native son, Peter Paul Rubens. Enjoy the chef’s signature dinner before the ship sets sail for Bruges.
Day 4 brings you to Ghent, Belgium, where you will drive to Bruges, renowned as one of Europe’s best preserved and most charming cities. Visit Old Market Square and see the 13th century belfry that soars over the rooftops. Or choose to bicycle the beautiful Belgian countryside. Day 5 brings you to Gorinchem, a quintessential Dutch town with flowers and windmills voted “the most beautiful, fortified town in the Netherlands.” That evening, experience a Tauck Exclusive dinner at Slot Loevestein, a 14th century castle set on a nature reserve on a private island.
Cross over into the Netherlands for the remainder of the cruise with stops in Rotterdam and, finally, Amsterdam. In Rotterdam, experience the dichotomy of the Old World glory of Holland’s Golden Age area before the city was bombed heavily in World War II versus the New World glass architecture and urban design the city created as it rebuilt. On your final day, you can access the many incredible gifts and sites of Amsterdam.
