The Holiday Auction is an annual event, hosted by the Mothers' Guild, which raises money for the Xavier Legacy of Leadership Capital Campaign. Normally, the event starts in the early evening with a Silent Auction, appetizers, and cocktails, followed by a beautiful catered dinner with entertainment. The main event is the Live Auction, which is usually followed by an after party with live entertainment and dancing. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Holiday Auction is moving completely online. Although our community won't be able to gather together in person, all who would like to participate are encouraged to log on to see all of the amazing packages being offered this year! The Auction began in 1970 and has become an annual tradition at Xavier which all members of the Xavier community look forward to attending- and we are keeping that tradition alive this year! It is a great way to start the Holiday season!
Yes, the event raises funds for the Xavier Legacy of Leadership Capital Campaign. The Capital Campaign helps Xavier pay for its remaining financial obligation incurred by the building of Xavier's Chapel of Our Lady, Founders Hall, Petznick Field, and the Activity Center.
Most of the funds are raised via the auctions conducted throughout the evening. All of the auctioned items, trips, and services are donated by Xavier families and community partners. The raffle is another huge contributor, as every Xavier student must sell at least two tickets (per the Xavier tuition contract). Sales of Angel Ornaments and Gator Gear items add to the bottom line as well. In addition, sponsorships and underwriting are welcome. Businesses can become sponsors and receive many benefits including acknowledgment on our website and at the event itself, as well as program ad space.
On average, we have raised $200,000 each year for the Legacy of Leadership Capital Campaign.
The event normally takes place in Founders Hall on the Xavier campus in early November. This year, the event will take place entirely online. It is an excellent way to kick off the holiday season!
We average about 500 to 550 guests every year. This year, a reservation is not required- all who would like to participate online are welcome!
All Xavier families and friends are welcome to attend. Also invited are future and past parents of Xavier Gators, Alumnae, Board Members, and Xavier friends in the community.
It's usually "holiday casual", but this year feel free to "attend" even in your pajamas, if you wish- you'll be participating from the comfort of your own home!
There are two separate auctions during the evening. The first is the Silent Auction, with hundreds of items for you to bid on. All bidding is done electronically through your phone, and you're able to place bids throughout the evening. The second is the Live Auction which includes high end items and experiences, as well as some Xavier-specific perks that can be found nowhere else! This year the Live Auction will also take place virtually, so make sure your phone is charged and ready for bidding!
The Silent Auction has a huge variety of items, from sports related items and tickets, to jewelry, photo sessions, Xavier dolls, Christmas nativity sets, gift baskets, restaurant gift certificates, and much more! It's a fantastic way to get a lot of your Christmas shopping done. There are also trips, experiences, reserved parking spots, and some special, uniquely Xavier items available for bidding during the Live Auction.
The Angel Ornament is a tradition at Xavier. The Angel is different each year and is revealed at the Auction. Prices vary from year to year, but they normally range from $20-$25. We have a limited quantity, so yes, get yours the night of the event, and collect them for each year your daughter(s) is(are) at Xavier.
There are many ways you can help. Attend virtually, and have fun bidding on those special and unique items that will be available. Anything you buy, even if it is just the Angel Ornament or a raffle ticket, will help us! If you own a business, being a sponsor helps both Xavier and your business. Also, consider donating items or services to our Auction. An underwriting donation is another way. Helping your daughter sell her raffle tickets, as many as possible, also helps. Think about getting her a reserved parking spot for next year, or if you are a senior parent, make sure you bid on the reserved graduation seats! Finally, donating your time and becoming a volunteer is a HUGE help, as this event takes many hands to make it a reality.
