Our vision is humane, just, workable migration between the U.S. and Mexico.
The Kino Border Initiative (KBI) is a nonpartisan, binational organization that works in the area of migration and is located in Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The KBI was inaugurated in January of 2009, under the guidance of Director Rev. Sean Carroll S.J., and six faith-based organizations from the United States and Mexico. The KBI’s vision is to help make humane, just, and workable migration between the U.S. and Mexico a reality. Its mission is to promote U.S./Mexico border and immigration policies that affirm the dignity of the human person and a spirit of binational solidarity through direct humanitarian assistance and accompaniment with migrants and other social and educational programs on both sides of the southern border. In 2018, we provided food 55,635 meals, clothing, and minor medical care for 4,760 people. KBI also offered temporary, safe shelter for 839 women, children and families.
