About the Children's Museum of Phoenix

Ranked one of the top three children’s museums in the country, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix has welcomed more than THREE MILLION guests since opening to the public in 2008. The Museum’s mission is to engage the minds, muscles and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. This is not your typical Museum. Here we want you to touch EVERYTHING, and there’s plenty to touch.

Throughout the three floors of the Historic Monroe School Building, over 300 play experiences for ages birth to 10 are specifically designed to promote early childhood development and school-readiness. From building Thing-A-Ma-Jigs with everyday materials in the Art Studio to dressing up as firefighters or princesses in Drama Rama to exploring the winding branches of the three-story Climber, all of the interactive exhibit spaces exquisitely immerse and inspire visitors at all developmental stages. In the classrooms, programs include a wide range of themes like Awakening Creativity, Brain Time and Raising A Reader.

A little known fact about the Museum, we have "secret" rooms closed off to the public. Even after raising almost $23 million in the early 2000s, not every room in the Historic Monroe School Building could be included in the major renovation. Today they still sit untouched but brimming with potential. The Museum has room to grow even bigger and better, and it experienced a major growth spurt just in time for its 10th birthday in 2018. Outside on the front lawn, half of Move It was redesigned into the Children's Garden, where fresh produce and gardening help children learn about sustainable eating. The NEW Art Studio moved to an empty room on the third floor, and it's former space was utterly transformed. It now houses the KIDchen for culinary programs paired with the Garden and leads into a brand new multipurpose space dubbed The Monroe. No doubt there is still more to come!
